Round Table Discussion Held On Gun Safety; U.S. Senator Discusses Political Divide

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There was a round table discussion today at Temple University School of Medicine addressing gun safety in homes with children.

Leading the discussion was U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), who said he wants to see a federal gun safety law in place require gun owners to have locks on their firearms with children in the home.

"What's blocking us on any common sense is gun measure and this is the most common sense of any. What's blocking us are the Republicans in Congress who say they want to do something about these issues, but kind of cave into the gun lobby, so we have to continue to push our Republican friends to do the right thing for our kids."

Other participants included Temple Hospital's trauma outreach coordinator, Sheriff Jewel Williams and Council President Darrell Clark. He focused on gun safety legislation in Philadelphia.
