ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) - Still looking for something to do to ring in the new year? In Atlantic City, you can be a part of history.

When the clock strikes midnight at the Playground Pier, champagne will be flowing....and lots of it.

"We are throwing a massive New Year's Eve event with six parties under one roof, and we are going to break a Guinness Book of World Record for the most bottles of champagne popped simultaneously," explains Ray Sheehan, organizer of "Uncorked."

He says they expect around 3,500 people -- with each getting their own champagne bottle -- so breaking the record shouldn't be tough:

"Right now the current record is over in Italy, it's 2,700 in change. We're going to absolutely crush that."

Sheehan adds this came about because they wanted to give everyone a New Year's Eve they'll never forget:

"We wanted to go really big."
