$1 Million Powerball Ticket Sold At Philadelphia Gas Station

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- What a way to start the New Year!

Pennsylvania Lottery officials say a winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million from the Wednesday, December 30 drawing was sold at a Sunoco located at the 1500 block of Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia.

Lottery officials say the ticket correctly matched all five white balls drawn, 12-36-38-54-61, but not the red Powerball 22, to win $1 million, less applicable tax withholding. The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket, according to lottery officials.

Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes, according to lottery officials.

The Lottery encourages the holder of the winning ticket to sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County, or at any of Lottery's seven area offices.

Claims may be filed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at headquarters. Lottery offices will be closed the afternoon of December 31 and all day on January 1.

More than 95,900 Powerball tickets won prizes of various amounts in the December 30 drawing, including 18,031 tickets purchased with the Power Play option that multiplied their prizes by three, according to lottery officials.

Lottery officials say players should check every ticket, every time, and immediately sign winning tickets. Lower-tier prizes may be claimed at a Lottery retailer.

The Powerball jackpot rolled to an estimated annuity value of $334 million, or $205 million cash, for the Saturday, January 2, drawing.
