"She's punched, hit in the side of the head with a rock … there's an attempt also to stab this victim," Capt. John Darby said.

The woman was able to escape her attacker.

The strangler is suspected of murdering 21-year-old Elaine Goldberg and 35-year-old Nicole Piacentini. Goldberg was found dead on November 3 in a vacant lot and Piacentini was found dead in an abandoned property on November 16.

He is also suspected of sexually assaulting four other women.

Police are also using high-tech crime fighting tools in their search for the strangler. The FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, which creates profiles of serial killers, has also joined the investigation.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, approximately 5'7", 170 lbs. with a medium complexion.

The family of Elaine Goldberg is offering a $3,000 reward leading to the suspect's arrest.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3263 or call 911.
