Police Probe Sex Assault in Somers Point

Atlantic County, NJ authorities have few leads as they hunt a suspect in the sexual assault and robbery of an elderly woman in Somers Point.

KYW's Al Novack reports the sexual assault, beating, and robbery happened around 1:30am on Tuesday inside a home along Cedar Avenue.
 
Police say the victim awoke when she heard something fall on the floor in her living room.

When she went to check on what happened, she was attacked. 

Police say after the attack, the suspect robbed her of money and other items and fled.

Authorities were hoping someone who may have witnessed something would come forward.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was treated at Shore Memorial Hospital and released.
