Police Involved Shooting In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It was just before 6 p.m. when police say officers saw a car parked illegally near 4th and Lindley Streets in Olney.

When they went to investigate, one of three men in the vehicle jumped out and ran.

Lieutenant John stafford said officers chased him on foot.

"The officers behind him were able to push him. the male stumbles into a vehicle and as the male is gathering himself he turns around with a firearm in his hand."

One officer then shot the man after he started running toward the other officer. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Stafford says nobody else was hurt.

"No injuries to police, no injuries to any other civilians."

As for the other two men in the car.

"One of the males exited and he fled on foot, so they were able to apprehend one of the individuals."
