Police Identify Woman Found Dead In Car In Upper Darby

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) - A 23-year-old Philadelphia man is being held without bail in connection with the shooting death of an 18-year-old Philadelphia woman whose body was found in a car in Upper Darby on Friday.

"A fellow by the name of Charles Deloatche came into Upper Darby headquarters because his conscience had to be cleared."

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says Deloatche confessed to shooting Camilla Stephenson near 54th and City Line Avenue during a struggle over a gun, which Deloatche claims accidentally went off, hitting her in the head (see related story).

According to Chitwood, Deloatche says he drove to Upper Darby, ditching the car at the Creek Road Apartments.

"He knew all the details of the crime, so his confession was believable, and he was charged with murder today."

Authorities are looking for Stephenson's boyfriend, who was said to be in the car, but took off after the shooting.
