Police: Cemetery Vandalized In Delaware
By Greg Argos
MINQUADALE, Del., (CBS) -- The Machzikey Hadas Cemetery, a tiny Jewish cemetery in Minquadale, Delaware is a place to pray and remember loved ones. Now, it's a place where vandals knocked over more than a dozen tombstones.
New Castle County Police are asking neighbors to check home surveillance video to see if it captured any of the crime.
"When you go to your mother's grave or something, you have all these emotions," said Milton Walh, whose mother, father, grandmother, aunt and uncle are all buried at the cemetery.
Their tombstones were not damaged, and Walh says he hopes the people responsible are just mischievous teenagers, and nothing more sinister.
"That's different. If they did it that way, that's a different group. If it was just kids running around, they don't know better," he said.
Call New Castle County Police if you happen to know anything about this vandalism. Their number is 800-TIP-3333.
