Police: 5 Shot In Egg Harbor Township Shootings, 1 Dead

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) -- One person is dead and four others were wounded Monday in a shootout involving at least two vehicles along the Atlantic City Expressway in Atlantic County, New Jersey.
It was just before 3 p.m. when police say they received a called about a shooting near exit 12 of the Atlantic City Expressway in Egg Harbor Township.

Authorities say when officers arrived at the Wawa on the Airport Circle they found a bullet-riddled vehicle in the parking lot. All four people inside the car were wounded. "It's crazy, I've never," said Brenda Morales, who lives across the street from the Wawa. "It's sad. It's sad. To even look at it is sad. It's unbelievable."
A short time later, on the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey State Police discovered a car with the fifth victim inside.
"That vehicle was pulled over, it had a driver who was uninjured," said Captain Stephen Jones, "but unfortunately it had a male passenger who was fatally injured. He had been shot in the head."
Captain Jones says the two shooting were related.
"Although we don't have all the details, we believe at this point that the people involved in this shooting knew each other," he said, "that this was not a random act."
Jones says police recovered a numerous guns involved in the incident at an undisclosed third location nearby.
"A number of weapons have been found, not in either of these locations, but in another location that's not too far from the main investigatory areas of this investigation," he said.
Jones says investigators are working to determine whether a third car was involved in the incident based on statements from witnesses.
Philly Police Chase Ends With Pursued Car Crashing Into AutoZone
The four injured men are currently being treated at AtlantiCare Medical Center in Atlantic City. Police are not releasing their names just yet, but said they are all men under the age of 40.
State Police did close off an eastbound section of the AC Expressway briefly Monday night to collect evidence.
Police added that on Monday night, a man connected to the shooting was dropped off by private vehicle at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Philadelphia Police took the man into their custody and he was charged with making false reports.
At this time, it is unclear how the man is connected to the shooting.
