Three people, two of whom are teenagers, are in the hospital after a shooting in Philadelphia's Fairhill section Monday night.

Philadelphia Police said a 26-year-old man, who investigators believe was targeted in the shooting, is in critical condition at Temple University Hospital after being hit multiple times on the 2800 block of Reese Street around 7:30 p.m. An earlier update from police incorrectly stated the victim had died.

The two other shooting victims were a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old girl who police said were making a DoorDash delivery in the area at the time. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small said officers believe the girls were hit by stray gunfire.

"They were working together and making a delivery to the same house when they were struck," Small said. "They're very, very lucky they were each struck just one time in the leg. But there were over 30 shots fired. Things could have been a lot worse."

Small said the delivery drivers were brought to Temple Hospital in a private vehicle.

Investigators believe shell casings found at the scene were from three separate semi-automatic weapons, Small said. Several houses and parked cars were damaged by the gunfire.

Police said they haven't determined a motive for the shooting as of Tuesday morning, but hope private surveillance cameras in the area can help their investigation and lead to an arrest.
