Philadelphia Election Officials Recounting Some Presidential Ballots
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Election officials in Philadelphia are doing a limited recount of some ballots cast for president, at the request of voters who supported Green Party candidate Jill Stein in last month's election.
The City Commissioners agreed to limit the recount to ballots in 75 of the 1,686 voting divisions. That's based on the number of legitimate affidavits they received from voters seeking a recount - with a stipulation that there are at least three voters per precinct.

But it's not a forensics audit into how the city voting machines work for possible hacking or malware that could have affected votes. City Commissioner Al Schmidt says they rejected the request to look into software.
Deputy City Commissioner Tim Dowling says they won't reopen the machines. In order to verify results, they drop a blank cartridge in to check the tape against the data cartridge that was stored in each of the 150-175 machines.
About 670,000 votes were cast in Philadelphia. Jill Stein got about 6,400 votes, or less than one percent.
A spokesman for the local Republican Party that backed President-Elect Donald Trump says he is unaware of any Trump supporters asking for a recount.
The process could last well into the weekend.
