Philadelphia Man Charged With Stealing Dead Mother's Retirement Benefits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Philadelphia man has been charged with stealing the retirement benefits of his dead mother. It was announced on Wednesday, by the U.S. Department of Justice that Daryl McCall, 60, has been charged with theft of government funds.

According to officials, McCall received retirement benefits that were supposed to be going to his mother.

Authorities say McCall received the benefits from the time his mother died in March of 2009 until August of 2013. Officials say the total received by McCall resulted in a loss of $52,314.

McCall is facing up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and restitution to the government of the funds he received. He also may have to pay additional fines.
