PennDot Cautions Drivers About Refreezing Roadways
By Tim Jimenez
Philadelphia (CBS) – The snow hasn't really been sticking to the roads but that doesn't mean PennDot is finished with its work this weekend.
No surprises with this storm system, according to PennDot spokesman Gene Blaum.
"The overnight snow didn't really stick much to the pavement. But we had over 300 trucks out throughout the morning and we're putting salt down just to keep the roadways wet."
Blaum says many crews are taking mid-day breaks but the next concern is for the overnight and morning commute.
"Keep the roadways as wet as possible. The refreezing is something that will be our concern with the temperatures becoming much colder."
He adds that drivers should still keep safe distances and speeds because conditions, while not terrible, are not ideal.
