Peeping Tom Caught and Arrested at Suburban Mall

by KYW's Pat Loeb

An alert security guard foiled a high-tech attempt to look up girls' skirts at Granite Run Mall yesterday afternoon. It was an innocent looking Gap shopping bag except for a round hole cut in the front with a camera lens sticking through it.

State police say a granite run security guard got suspicious when the man carrying the bag seemed to be maneuvering it under the skirt of a teenage girl. They say the guard turned the tables on the man -- sneaking a peek, inside the bag -- and saw a camera held in place with duct tape and cardboard.

According to Trooper Robert Kirby, the suspect has admitted using the camera-in-a-bag to look up the skirts of four young girls who were shopping at the mall and using his iPhone to photograph three of them.

Police have charged 32-year-old Michael Stankus of Philadelphia with invasion of privacy.
