PECO Offers New Money And Energy Conservation Plan

PECO is rolling out an energy saving program that's better than free.
KYW's John Ostapkovich reports eyeing the next air conditioning season, PECO is rolling out its Smart A/C Saver program. It's free to join, says spokeswoman Cathy Engel. If you do, technicians will install a new device in the A/C loop that will regulate, during the highest demand hours on hot afternoons, how often your A/C compressor is on. This saves power on the grid, money on your bill and:

"A customer can earn $30 a month during each summer month in a bill credit so they'll receive up to $120 in credits on their PECO bill."

Engel says the Smart A/C Saver program works in conjunction with a programmable thermostat, another energy saving device. She says some who've tested Smart A/C Saver have noticed a small temperature rise, others none.
