Original Gerber Baby Celebrates Her 90th Birthday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- You probably wouldn't recognize her today but give anyone a baby photo of Ann Turner Cook and they'd tell you that's the Gerber baby. Today she's celebrating her 90th birthday.

According to company website, Turner Cook's claim to fame started with a contest back in 1928. The winning submissions was a charcoal sketch by artist, Dorothy Hope Smith, a neighbor of Turner Cook's family. The baby's true identity however wasn't revealed until 1978.

Turner Cook was a retired English teacher and mystery novelist but Gerber notes, before the truth came out, people had speculated as to who the baby was, even guessing celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Humphrey Bogart and Jane Seymour.
