PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Burlington County Prosecutor's office has handed down an indictment for a registered nurse and her husband, charging them with stealing more than half a million dollars from an elderly man in the nurse's care.
The Burlington County Prosecutor's office has indicted Mariejo Cherestal and her husband Frantz Constant, both of Medford Township. The investigation shows Cherestal convinced her elderly client to place her name on several financial accounts, then diverted the money to herself without the client's knowledge or permission.
The investigation shows the money was put into accounts in her husband's and juvenile daughter's names. The money was used to renovate the couple's basement, pay their mortgage and buy a vacation timeshare.
The investigation began in January 2009 after the victim's bank contacted Medford Township police about suspicious activity. Cherestal was arrested in February 2011. Additional charges were filed in August 2011. An arraignment for her and her husband is slated April 30th.
