PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Getting books into the hands of kids. Tree House Books in North Philadelphia celebrated its fifth annual literacy day Saturday with a Reading Promise Festival.
The event was like a block party with music, games and book giveaways.
Organizers say the turnout was great and more events are planned to get reading materials to children and families for free.
According to the organizers, only 39% of Philadelphia school children can read at grade level when they enter fourth grade.
