PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 43-year-old woman is recovering after Philadelphia police say she was followed by an unknown person and then shot Sunday night. This happened in North Philadelphia at North 17th and West Clearfield Streets around 10:30 p.m.

The department said they found the victim in her car with a gunshot wound to her foot. She crashed into a gate after being shot, officers said.

The victim told police the unknown car followed her Nissan Altima and then fired at her multiple times. The suspect then drove westbound on Clearfield in the wrong direction.

She is currently in stable condition.
