NJ Man Charged In Murder Of 1-Year-Old

BURLINGTON COUNTY, N.J. (CBS) - A Burlington County man is free on bail, after being charged with last month's murder of a toddler entrusted to the care of his girlfriend.

Bail was set at a $250,000, and 29-year-old Steven Donaldson of Shamong Township came up with it.

Court papers indicate Donaldson was in his girlfriend's Cinnaminson home on February 12th, babysitting one-year-old Claudia Nunes, a foster child to the woman who was at work. That evening, Donaldson called paramedics saying the child just stopped breathing.

A post-mortem showed the little girl died from blunt force trauma to the head. The case now goes to a grand jury for possible indictment. The girlfriend is not facing any charges.
