NJ Homeowner Scares Away Intruders Remotely Using Surveillance Technology

UPPER PITTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, Nj., (CBS) -- New Jersey State Police are asking for the public's help identifying two men they say burglarized a home in Upper Pittsgrove Township in Salem County.

Authorities say that at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, two men broke into a home by kicking in the side door. Officials say they when they entered, they ran into the family's dogs.

Police say the dogs appeared to bark and sniff the men entering the home, but otherwise left them alone.

Although the pets didn't startle the intruders to leave, the homeowner, who wasn't actually present, did.

Police say the homeowner noticed the intruders remotely using surveillance video. The homeowner was able to address the intruders and as seen in surveillance footage, they were startled and fled the home.

The surveillance footage can be seen on the New Jersey State Police Facebook Page.

Officials say the suspects got away with a lockbox containing jewelry and personal documents.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper M. Korjeko or Trooper F. Williams at Woodstown Station at 856-769-0775 or Woodstown Criminal Investigations Office at 856-769-0779.
