NJ Ad Campaign Sets Sights On Illinois Businesses
TRENTON, NJ (CBS) - The Christie administration is kicking off a new ad campaign trying to lure businesses from Illinois.
(Clip of radio ad:) "Have you had enough of Illinois' outrageous tax increases that stifle businesses and cost jobs? Then move your business to New Jersey."
The print and radio ads will start running this week, on the heels of Illinois raising its state income tax by 67 percent and increasing the corporate tax rate but nearly 50 percent.
The ads promoting New Jersey will start running this week, and feature Gov. Chris Christie himself.
(Clip of Gov. Christie in radio ad:) "I know what you're thinking, move my business to New Jersey? Really? Really."
In the ad, Christie touts his state's talent pool and his efforts to reduce government regulation.
"Oh, and one more thing, as long as I'm governor I will not raise your taxes," Christie promises in the ad.
Several other states are trying to lure companies out of Illinois. Christie's ads follow a plea from Illinois' lieutenant governor to Fortune 500 and other large businesses headquartered in Illinois to stay put.
There was no immediate word on the price of New Jersey's ad campaign.
