New I-95 SB Off-Ramp At Cottman Avenue Interchange To Open Friday Morning
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The new southbound Interstate 95 off-ramp at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange in Philadelphia opened Friday morning.
The new southbound off-ramp at Cottman Avenue (Route 73) opened Friday morning for the peak morning travel time. The exit ramp has been closed since April 30, 2013, when construction began to remove the former ramp and build a new, wider ramp slightly west of its former location.
PennDOT says this new ramp was constructed as part of their $212.3 million project to rebuild and improve 1.4 miles of I-95 between Rhawn Street and Levick Street. Construction to widen this stretch of I-95 to four through lanes through the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange began in late 2012 and is scheduled to finish in spring 2017.
PennDOT says Walsh Construction Company II, LLC of Canonsburg, Pa., is the general contractor on the project that is financed with 90 percent federal and 10 percent state funds.
