Mummers Museum To Host Concert Series On Tuesday Nights Through September

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It doesn't have to be New Year's Day to enjoy the Philadelphia Mummers string band.

Every Tuesday night through September 13th, the public is invited to a free concert in the Penn's Port section of the city.

People bring their blankets and beach chairs for a free two hour concert outside the Mummers Museum at 2nd and Washington Avenue where a different string band club performs.

This coming Tuesday, August 2nd at 8:00 p.m., it's the Polish-American string band.

Marty Good is the president of the Philadelphia Mummers string band association. He runs down the rest of the concert schedule.

"And on the 9th, Fralenger comes in. On the 16th, Avalon comes in. On the 23rd, it's Greater Overbrook. And on the 30th, its South Philadelphia and we finish up with Hegeman on the 13th of September," says Good.

There is no concert on September 6th.

If it rains, the fun moves inside the museum.
