More Rain And A Wintry Mix
By Justin Drabick
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Yesterday's cold front, which came through the Delaware Valley, has stalled just to our south, pushing out the mild air mass. A wave of low pressure riding along the front will bring another round of rain to Philadelphia tonight.
As the moisture moves north and meets temperatures close to freezing, a period of snow and sleet will break out north of the city later tonight and overnight. An accumulation of a coating to an inch or two is possible north of the city, with some higher amounts in the Poconos. A Winter Weather Advisory will go in effect tonight through Wednesday morning for the far NW Suburbs, Lehigh Valley and Poconos.
Rain showers will continue, especially on Wednesday morning, with pockets of sleet and freezing rain in the Lehigh Valley and Poconos. Highs will struggle to reach the low 40s with cloudy skies. Some sunshine finally returns on Thursday, with highs in the mid 40s, before a brief shot of arctic air moves in for Friday, with highs in the upper 30s.
Milder temperatures return for the weekend with highs well in the 40s, before an arctic blast of the coldest air of the season arrives next week. Highs next week may struggle to make it into the 30s.
