Moorestown Mall Owners Want To Change Century Old Alcohol Law
MOORESTOWN, N.J. (CBS) - There is another push to allow for alcohol sales in Moorestown, New Jersey which has been dry for almost a century now.
Almost a quarter of the Moorestown Mall is vacant, and the owners want to change that. So they got behind a petition drive to put the question on the November ballot. Joseph Coradino is President of PREIT, the company that owns the mall, has big plans for the mall.
"Family oriented fine dining with liquor has a tendency to create sales among other co-tenants in the property."
He's planning other improvements there, including a new 12 screen movie theatre and has a few restaurant clients in mind, should the voters approve.
A similar referendum to change the whole town failed in 2007. This one would limit liquor sales to the mall. If the town certifies there are enough valid signatures on petitions, town council will decide if the question gets on the ballot.
