Montgomery Co. Coroner: Elderly Man's Death Related To Heat
ROSALYN, Pa. (CBS) -- Authorities in Montgomery County say an elderly man has died as a result of the excessive heat on Tuesday.
Montgomery County coroner Walter Hofman says an 87-year-old man from Rosalyn died from heat stroke while working in his yard. Hofman said the victim's body temperature had risen to 102.9 degree Fahrenheit. Heart disease and diabetes also contributed to the death.
Temperatures soared in the 90s Tuesday with a heat index in the upper 90s. The National Weather Service had issued an Excessive Heat Warning that went into effect Monday afternoon through Tuesday at 7 p.m.
