PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia police are investigating the shooting death of a man overnight in Port Richmond.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of East Atlantic Street.

Police say officers were on patrol when they heard gunshots from about a half block away. While responding, they and saw a man running from behind a parked car. Police say they lost sight of the man and returned to the vehicle and found a 34-year-old man outside the passenger door with a gunshot wound to his head.

The victim was rushed to Temple Hospital where he died several hours later.

There was no initial word on a motive.

So far, there have been no arrests.
