Local Athlete Returns To City For Philadelphia Triathlon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's triathlon weekend in Philadelphia, and Sunday's race is drawing several of the top professional triathletes in the country, including one who calls this his "hometown race."
Andy Potts has racked up all kinds of accolades since he was USA Triathlon rookie of the year in 2003, including representing the U.S. at the Athens Olympic Games, but Potts says Philadelphia Triathlon holds a special place on his busy calendar.
"[I] grew up in Hershey, and then I spent my formative years in Princeton, New Jersey, so we're about 35 minutes away. [I] still have family in town, love to race in front of family and friends," he explains.
Potts says when he first started the triathlon his primary goal was just to be as fast as he could be. Now, he says works almost as hard to grow the sport.
"[I] try to bring more people into the sport, to show what it can offer in terms of your active lifestyle, your healthy lifestyle, that a lot of people can make to better themselves," he says.
