Kids Help Grownups Make A Point About Preschools in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A few hundred young children gathered this morning in Franklin Square, to help adults send a message about preschool funding.
Kids sang and danced as the grownups pushed for funding for quality pre-kindergarten programs.
The event was organized by Pre-K for PA, a campaign endorsing increased state investment in preschool teachers and facilities.
Philadelphia schools superintendent William Hite says the benefit is clear.
"Children who have access to high-quality pre-K do better in school," he told those assembled for the event.
Sharon Easterling, executive director of the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children," agrees but sees a roadblock.
"Politicians all say they support pre-K, but we can't muster the political will to really fund it," she told KYW Newsradio today.
The kids traced and colored outlines of their bodies, to create a mural that the pre-K campaign plans to take to Harrisburg after the November election.
