Jeremy Maclin: 'Let Chip Do What He Needs To Do'

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's safe to say that Chip Kelly is shaking things up this off-season. With the final say on player decisions, Kelly has completely transformed the Eagles roster in just under two weeks.

Some fans are on board, but there is a noticeable contingent that think Kelly has gone too far with the drastic changes.

One former player of Kelly's wants people to lay off Kelly and allow him to do what he feels is necessary to make the Eagles better.

"Let Chip do what he needs to do," said Jeremy Maclin who appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Friday. "I think [Kelly] needs to stop taking hear for it."

Maclin discussed his situation with the Eagles, his relationship with Kelly and the direction the franchise is heading.

"I respect Chip," Maclin said of his former coach. "I think he's going to do great in Philadelphia."

The success Kelly might experience in Philadelphia will be without the services of Maclin, LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson. That is a reality that might have been hard to picture when Kelly first came to town.

Maclin explained that his situation was very different from those other surprising departures.

"This was kind of a decision that I made," Maclin said of leaving for the Chiefs. "Those other two guys are in a different situation."
