Thanks to the generous help of the GM Foundation, Chevrolet, JWT, Comcast, CBS Radio and other great organizations and individuals across America, the Travis Manion Foundation has been able to offer the 9/11 Heroes Run to communities across the country on the 10th anniversary of the attacks on America.

1st Lt Travis Manion, USMC, visited Rescue One in New York City before leaving for his second tour in Iraq and came home with a ball cap for his father that said "9/11 Never Forget." Travis - a 2004 Naval Academy graduate - was killed in combat just a few months later and his family dedicated themselves to honoring the fallen by challenging the living and starting the 9/11 Heroes Run.

"Travis rushed to the aid of his medic and Marines in Fallujah over four years ago and saved their lives while sacrificing his own," Janet Manion - Travis's mother and Chairman of the Travis Manion Foundation - said. "His is just one of the amazing examples of selfless courage demonstrated by thousands of brave men and women who wear the uniform of our country - whether police, firefighter, military or EMS. That's why four years ago we started the 9/11 Heroes Run in our hometown to ensure Americans always remember the sacrifice of so many on 9/11 and since."

The Travis Manion Foundation expects more than 50,000 Americans - including 15,000 registered runners - to come out across the nation to run, volunteer, donate, cheer but most of all honor the more than 9,000 men and women who gave their lives on 9/11 and since.

Towns and communities hosting the 9/11 Heroes Run this year include: Annapolis, MD; Boston; South Jersey; Dallas, TX; Danville, IL; Doylestown, PA; Greenville, SC; Harleysville, PA; Houston, TX; Indianapolis, IN; Irvine, CA; Jacksonville, FL; Lynchburg, VA; Monterey, CA; New York City; Oahu, HI; Orlando, FL; Philadelphia, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Pottstown, PA; San Antonio, TX; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; St. Louis, MO; Stoneharbor, NJ; Stratford, CT; Troy, AL; West Chester, PA. Races around the world include Afghanistan, Iraq, Italy, England, Qatar, and aboard U.S. Navy ships in the Persian Gulf.

Created in 2007 after the combat death of 1st Lt. Travis Manion, USMC, in Fallujah, Iraq, the Travis Manion Foundation is committed to honoring the fallen by challenging the living. Our goal is to ensure the love of country and spirit of service exemplified by this generation of Fallen Heroes lives on. Learn more at www.TravisManion.com.
