PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A world record was set on the final day of the World Meeting of Families as attendees of the conference -- armed with paintbrushes -- helped make history.
Those attending were being asked to help paint a mural to break the record of the most people to paint by numbers.
The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program set up panels. A family from Argentina's brush strokes helped beat the record of 2,263 painters, set in San Diego last year.
Carlos Martinez -- the director of records for Guinness World Records -- made the announcement:
"All the evidence that we are receiving and we are reviewing at this moment indicates that with this participation, we are now 2,267 people taking part. Congratulations!"
The mural is called "The Sacred Now: Faith and Family In The 21st Century." There is an image of the Pope in the center and several children depicted.
Over 150 individual 5 x 5 panels of the mural will eventually be installed at Saint Malachy School at 11th and Thomson Streets in North Philadelphia.
