Infant Police Say Was Abused By Father Dies

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - An infant boy is dead and his father is in jail after police suspect the father of child abuse.

Twenty-year-old Brian Armstrong of West Oak Lane in Philadelphia is being held on aggravated assault and other offenses.

This after his two month old son, Hassan Armstrong, was taken to the emergency room at Einstein Hospital with injuries extensive injuries to his ribs and skull. Police say the injuries are consistent with child abuse.

The eight-week-old baby was transferred to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children with critical injuries and was on life support, before he died on Sunday afternoon.

Armstrong is being held on $5-million bail. He faces a preliminary hearing August 20th.
