Indiana Animal Shelter Uses Pokemon Go To Get Volunteer Dog Walkers

MUNCIE, Ind. (CBS) -- Thousands of smartphone users are getting extra exercise with the help of augmented reality game Pokemon Go which encourages players to explore their real-life neighborhoods.

An animal shelter in Indiana is making sure all those walks don't go to waste.

Muncie Animal Shelter is encouraging Pokemon Go players to come and walk their dogs while they're out hunting for Pokemon.

Come out to the Muncie Animal Shelter between 10am-5:30pm any day and walk an adoptable dog as you hunt for Pokemon and hatch eggs!

All they have to do is visit the shelter between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and say that they're there for the "Pokemon dogs."

A few people have already taken up Muncie's suggestion, posting about their new four-legged friends who have tagged along on their Poke quest.
