'Hoops From The Heart' Clinics Prove Successful
DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) - Some Delaware County college and high school basketball programs joined forces earlier this month on Martin Luther King Day for what were called "Hoops from the Heart" clinics. They were very successful and now they are hoping more area schools will get involved next year.
Bobbi Morgan (pictured top row, second from left) is the women's coach at Haverford College. She has helped develop these clinics which she says have really grown.
"It began with one clinic at Haverford High School and since then we've branched out to four different colleges - Haverford College, Cabrini College, Neumann, Widener University and actually Springfield High School in Delaware County have all done these clinics. They are conducted by the men's and women's teams at each school and all the proceeds go to the Community Action Agency of Delaware County."
This year Morgan says they raised around $10 thousand and the hope is that, by getting the word out now, they can get even more schools involved for next Martin Luther King Day.
