Homeowners in Royersford Going After Bankrupt Builder
by KYW's Brad Segall
More than a year after some homeowners moved into their new development in Royersford, Pa., they are still having problems with the builder who filed for bankruptcy just days after they made settlement on their homes.
Homeowners in Burbank Grove still complain about overgrown weeds, trash-strewn streets, and a lack of fences around a water retention basin -- all the result of TH Properties going out of business last year.
Now, 14 months later with nothing being done, they hope to turn up the heat on the company which they say continues to sell new homes in the neighborhood.
State representative Mike Vereb hopes to set up a meeting to get the problems resolved:
"I understand the need for THP to go ahead and sell properties to be able to sell off assets, but THP has a responsibility to the neighbors who have already purchased properties."
Upper Providence township officials say they are also working with the builder to map out a strategy to take care of the residents' issues. Those residents also had liens placed on their homes by sub-contractors who were never paid for their work.
