Historic Philadelphia Offers Low-Cost Activities To Bridge Gap Between Camp And School

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - With a lot of summer camps wrapping up and a good couple of weeks to go before Labor Day, what do you do with the kids for the rest of the summer? One organization suggests you go historic.

Historic Philadelphia has a lot of free or low-priced activities for families and kids through Labor Day.  There are 13 Once Upon a Nation storytelling benches throughout the historic area, where visitors can hear rarely told tales of the history of Philadelphia right where it happened.

There's also Franklin Square at 6th and Race and Liberty 360 at 6th and Chestnut. On the weekends, there are tours like the Colonial Kids Quest. Amy Needle is president and CEO of Historic Philadelphia.

"And you run around and try to find clues and help Phineas Bell who has lost that copy of the Declaration of Independence and you help him find it and meet friends along the way."
