Gov. Corbett To Formally Kick Off Re-Election Bid
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Republican Party officials say Gov. Tom Corbett will be formally announcing his re-election campaign next week with a multi-city tour of the state.
The Wednesday announcement by Corbett is expected to start in Pittsburgh at the Heinz History Center.
Party officials say Corbett, a Republican, also will make an announcement in Philadelphia, and Allegheny County Republican Party chairman Jim Roddey says other stops that day are possible in Johnstown, Erie and Harrisburg.
Corbett's campaign manager didn't immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.
Chester County Republican Party Chairman Valentino DiGiorgio says he and others are organizing other local events that are tied to Corbett's announcement.
No GOP candidate has announced a primary challenge to Corbett. Meanwhile, eight Democrats say they're seeking the party's nomination to challenge Corbett.
