GED Exam Gets A New Look
By Lynne Adkins
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Pennsylvania's GED exam is getting a new look in the new year.
The current GED or graduate equivalency degree exam is 5 parts in Pennsylvania, but Tim Eller a spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Education says the new test will be 4 parts, and it will be all on computer and it will be more difficult.
"It's going to be a more rigorous exam as far as the academic content areas we will be testing to be able to show a proficiency of deeper understanding of the subject matter, English language arts, writing, speaking and listening those types of things," says Eller.
He says this is the first new test in 12 years.
If you're trying to complete your GED now you must finish and pass all 5 parts before the first of the year or you'll have to start all over with the new exam.
