Funeral Arrangements Announced For George Bengal
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Funeral arrangements have been announced for George Bengal, the former Pennsylvania SPCA Director of Humane Law Enforcement.
Bengal died Saturday evening of cancer.
The Kirk and Nice Funeral Home on County Line Road in Feasterville will host viewing hours on Thursday, June 23 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Visitation will be held on Friday at Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia on Philmont Avenue from 10-11 a.m.
Funeral services with full military honors will begin at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Park.
Dozens of tributes have come in since Bengal's passing.
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf said, "Frances and I send our deepest condolences to George's family and friends. George devoted his life to protecting animals from cruelty and abuse, and his service and dedication are unmatched. George is an inspiration to many and he will be missed."
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said, "George Bengal was a true public servant, veteran, and protector and lover of animals. His passing leaves a void, but also a legacy in advocacy for animal welfare. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, loved ones and the PSPCA."
In addition to his wife Carole and daughter Lisa, George is survived by daughter Kim, and a grandson, Shane.
In lieu of flowers, George's family has asked that donations be made to the George Bengal Fund to End Animal Cruelty.
