Frontier Airlines Expands Service At New Castle County Airport
By David Madden
PHILADELPHIA (CBS)-- One of America's low cost airlines is expanding service at the New Castle County Airport in Delaware.
Frontier Airlines has been flying from Wilmington to Chicago, Denver, Orlando, Tampa and Fort Myers since the summer.
Airport Director Stephen Williams says, "They announced that they would begin service to two new markets from Wilmington in April, both Atlanta and Detroit.
Williams says capacity on the flights now in service is just fewer than 90 percent, which was Frontier's goal from the beginning.
Williams says he would like to bring other commercial service in but being just a short drive from Philadelphia International Airport causes a bit of a problem.
Williams stresses the benefits of a smaller airport, like short lines and in this case free parking.
Frontier is also offering discounted fares until Saturday online for the new service.
Williams believes those fares, paired with shorter security lines and free parking, is a viable alternative to some who'd rather avoid the hassles in Philadelphia.
