Flyers Looking To Sweep Devils In Two-Town Set

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Flyers will play the back end of a home-and-home set with the Devils on Saturday afternoon at the Wachovia Center.  The orange and black won the first game, on Thursday in New Jersey, 4-2 (see previous story).

Flyers' defenseman Sean O'Donnell called in to KYW Newsradio on Friday, between games.  He says the team wasn't great on Thursday but they got the two points.

"We definitely didn't get the start that we wanted," O'Donnell admitted, "but Jersey, they like to play that way, especially at home.  They almost kind of lull you to sleep."

He says they are looking forward to the game Saturday in front of the hometown fans.

The Devils are the worst team in the NHL right now, by a lot.  They have just 22 points.  But O'Donnell says that doesn't mean you can take them lightly.  In fact, he thinks one of the things the Flyers need to improve upon this season is playing better against struggling teams.

"We've shown against the elite teams... we've played Pittsburgh well, we've played Washington well, Boston, Montreal, we've played all these teams real well.  But we haven't come out and had our best games against some of the teams that, quote unquote, aren't as good as us.  We need to learn to play the same way every night and kind of create an identity no matter who we are playing," O'Donnell said.

O'Donnell has played in all 40 games for the Flyers this season.  He has nine assists in those 40 games and he is a plus-16.

The Flyers come into play on Saturday afternoon one point behind the Penguins for first place in the Atlantic Division.
