Fla. Woman, 82, Granted Wish For Cross-Country Trip Aboard Big Rig
DUBLIN, Pa. (CBS) - An 82-year-old Florida woman is fulfilling a lifelong dream of riding cross-country in an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer, thanks to a Bucks County organization that makes dreams come true for senior citizens.
Margarette Kirsch has already ridden Segways, mopeds, even motorcycles. But that 18-wheeler has been elusive to this octogenarian -- until now.
The Twilight Wish Foundation, based in Bucks County, Pa., has granted her dream of traveling round-trip to California in the cab of a big rig. She won't be able to drive because she doesn't have a commercial license, but she will be riding shotgun.
And she says she plans to enjoy every minute of it.
"What do I expect out this? Meeting a lot of great people, seeing great country, just being me and having a happy, happy time," she told reporters.
Kirsch -- born and raised in Georgia but now living in Merritt Island, Fla. -- plans to meet up with seniors during her travels to let them know that they shouldn't stop dreaming, because one day their dreams may come true.
The 17-day adventure will take Kirsch and her driver to 27 states, covering more than six thousand miles.
