EXCLUSIVE: Violent Bullying Attack Caught On Tape
CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- A Chester teenager says she was just walking home from school when she was attacked. Her mother turned to the police for help, then turned to 3-On Your Side for answers.
The victim's mother says for months she sought answers, and fearing for her daughter's safety, she has been walking her 17-year-old daughter to and from school. She says her daughter may not be an angel, but no one deserves to be assaulted the way she was.
Marziah Lee, the victim, said, "They popped out of nowhere and started jumping me. This girl and her friend pulled me down and then there was a boy with her who was holding me and pinning me down and letting her hit me. I couldn't believe it was happening. I was like what is this for? Why?"
"And no parent wants to see this happen to their child," Marziah's mother, Margaret, added.
The frustrated mother and daughter have watched the cell phone video of the attack countless times. Each time, they say they grow angrier knowing no one has been held accountable for beating Marziah.
Watch the video...
"People were walking past me and just letting it happen and standing there watching, it was crazy," Marziah said.
It happened at the corner of 23rd and Crosby Streets in Chester. Marziah believes the attack may have been motivated over a boy. The entire incident was recorded then posted on Facebook and Youtube.
Margaret said, "I looked at it, I was very upset as well as angry and I thought the best thing for me to do was download it myself."
Margaret says she then called the police to file an incident report, the day after the incident on October 19th. But she says she got nowhere with the Chester Police so she contacted the Delaware County District Attorney's office.
"I was told that my daughter was assaulted and they should have been arrested and something should have been done," Margaret said.
So Margaret says she kept calling to no avail.
Marziah said, "I would like for them to do their job and arrest them."
"No one was picked up, I need answers, I really do," Margaret added.
So Eyewitness News reached out to authorities and heard back from the Chester Police Chief. At first, he explained he was not aware of the incident and said if the allegations of Margaret's pleas for answers going unanswered were true, it is disturbing. Chief Darren Alston assured Eyewitness News he would look into the matter.
Chief Alston did and later explained to Eyewitness News, he was able to pull the incident reports and a copy of the cell phone video. He says this case will be investigated and judging from the evidence, he said Marziah will not be charged but once everyone else involved is identified, they will be charged accordingly.
