9-year-old girl injured, woman dead in East Goshen Township, Pennsylvania shooting
Police are investigating a shooting in East Goshen Township, Pennsylvania, that left a 9-year-old girl injured and a woman dead Friday morning.
Officers responded to a 911 call at a residence at the Summit House Condominiums just before 11 a.m., where they found a woman in her 40s dead from an apparent gunshot wound, Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department Chief David Leahy said during a news conference.
A 9-year-old girl was also struck by gunfire and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police said she was conscious and able to speak to officers on scene.
A gun was also found nearby, but it's unclear who it belonged to.
"We're not releasing any of the details about who was struck by gunfire today because we are in the early stages of the investigation," Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe said. "We need to make sure we notify all the family members of those affected today."
Police said at no time was there a threat to the community members of the Summit House complex.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department, Chester County detectives and the Chester County District Attorney's Office.
