The Eagles' Good, Bad & Ugly From Loss To Redskins

By Joseph Santoliquito

LANDOVER, MD (CBS) — There were some things to like, a lot to dislike and not a lot to look forward to this season after the Eagles fell to 1-3 after a 23-20 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday at FedEx Field.

The Good

Quarterback Sam Bradford—the second half version. He was 10-of-19 for 194 yards and 3 TDs of 62, 39 and 10 yards.

Receiver Riley Cooper came back from the dead, catching 2 passes for 72 yards, including a 62-yard TD, the longest play of the year for the Eagles.

Running back and all-everything Darren Sproles. He sparked the Eagles the previous game with an 89-yard punt return for a TD against the Jets, and got them going again with a 45-yard punt return to the Washington 30.

Linebacker Jordan Hicks recovered a fumble for the second-straight week. His recovery early in the fourth quarter led to Sam Bradford's 39-yard TD strike to Miles Austin.

Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox collapsed the pocket all afternoon around Redskins' quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Tight end Brent Celek resurfaced with a touchdown reception in the third quarter.

Defensive back E.J. Biggers downed Donnie Jones' punt at the Washington 2 in the second quarter.

The Bad

Quarterback Sam Bradford (first half) was 5 for 10 in the first two quarters for 75 yards. That version of Bradford was skittish and unsure.

The Ugly

Kicker Caleb Sturgis was on the scrapheap for a reason. He missed a 33-yard field goal to finish the first half. He then proceeded to miss an extra point.

Wide receiver Nelson Agholor made two second-quarter blunders. One, a fumble, came right after an incredible one-handed catch by the rookie receiver. Then, Agholor was caught out of formation, erasing a Sam Bradford-to- Zach Ertz TD pass, which was further compounded by Sturgis missing the 33-yard field goal at the end of the half. Agholor concluded the day by tossing the ball across the field and giving up a second fumble.

Cornerback Eric Rowe was sloppy with a personal foul early in the fourth quarter.

The drops. The Eagles have 14 dropped passes this year. They continue to come at crucial times.
