PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Pennsylvania SPCA removed more than a dozen dead and live cats from a home in Northeast Philadelphia.
The homeowner, a man in his 70s, was found unconscious inside the Bickley Road home, which was described as being in deplorable conditions.
Relatives called police after finding the victim and the home in complete disrepair, which was littered with animal waste.
Animal control officers removed an estimated 10 to 15 live cats from the home and they also removed an unknown number of dead cats.
SPCA officials said the home was completely filled floor to ceiling with trash, debris and animal feces.
Officials say the roof was caving in, and the basement had been flooded out. It also had no air conditioning.
The man was taken to nearby Nazareth Hospital for treatment.
A neighbor said the owner kept to himself, and wasn't well.
