Corbett Expected To Sign Bill Expanding Sunday Hours For Beer Distributors

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) - Governor Tom Corbett is expected to sign a bill that will allow beer distributors in Pennsylvania to open for business some extra hours on Sundays.
The main provision of the bill will allow beer distributors to be open on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., instead of noon to five. Not everybody is on board with what some consider the modernization of Pennsylvania's liquor laws.
Bucks County Republican Paul Clymer spoke against the bill as the state House gave final legislative approval.
"This bill is once again a major expansion of the use of alcohol here in Pennsylvania. I wish I could stand before you and report that underage drinking was under control, but I cannot. I wish I could report that DUIs were no longer being reported by law enforcement officers, but I cannot."
Another provision in the bill allows eateries that serve Sunday brunch or breakfast to begin serving alcohol as early as 9 a.m. instead of 11 a.m.
