Police: 3 Juveniles Arrested After Teen Sisters Attacked In Trenton Park

TRENTON, NJ (CBS) – A local community is outraged after two teenage sisters are attacked at a park.

The violent encounter was caught on video and shared on social media.

The video lasts about five minutes and was shared on several Facebook pages.

It shows the brutal attack on two sisters that left them battered and bruised, one needing stitches and the other with a bald spot on her head after her hair was ripped out.

"We could have gotten killed. They were stomping on our heads…grown women stomping on our heads. We're only teenagers, anything could have happened out there," says victim Destiny Cooke.

Cooke says she was rough-housing with another girl when her sister stepped in.

"I was standing there. It was one on one. And then her sister hit my sister. And I was just like, no. And then her mom hit me, and then her cousin hit me," Lajahia Cooke remembers.

Plenty of people stepped up to fight, but no one stepped in to stop the violence.

Now, one sister has 15 stitches in her ear.

The incident was caught on tape, and so was the voice of a man egging people on.

"You're just as guilty, because you sat there and recorded it, and you knew my daughter," says Laronda Cooke, the girls' mother.

The teens say patrolmen were nearby but were slow to start an investigation.

City leaders describe the incident as "sickening."

According to police, three juveniles were taken into custody and charged Thursday night.  The juveniles are a 15-year-old girl, a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy. Police say they've been charged with aggravated assault and are under electronic monitoring.

Authorities say the juveniles were released to their parents and guardians.

The investigation is ongoing and police say more arrests are possible.
